    Germany, Steinmeier fled. Gabriel will be top diplomat


    German President Joachim Gauck has accepted the resignation of Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, being appointed to this post and Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel, during a ceremony held this Friday.

    "On behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany unload Steinmeier post of Foreign Minister," Gauck said in his official residence in the house "Bellevue".

    German President thanked Steinmeier for all activities developed as Germany's top diplomat. Chancellor Merkel, who also attended the ceremony, congratulated Sigmar Gabriel for his new position.

    Frank-Walter Steinmeier has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany since 2013.

    He was born on January 5, 1956 in the town of Detmold in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1974, he completed his studies at a high school and was called immediately conscript military service in the Bundeswehr. A year later he became a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDP). In 1982 he graduated from the University "Justus Liebig" in Giessen, justice and political science. In 1986 he defended his doctoral thesis. After serving as a scientific assistant at the Faculty of Political Science at the same university in 1991 passed as legal advisor for communication and media policy in the State Chancellery of Lower Saxony.

    In the years 1993-1994, he was chief of staff to former Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Gerhard Schroeder, while in the years 1996-1998 became Secretary of State Chancellery of Lower Saxony.

    Following the appointment of Schroeder as Chancellor of Germany in 1998, Steinmeier became secretary of state for the federal government from 1998 to 1999 and was responsible for coordinating the activities of the secret services of the country. From 1999 until in 2005 he was chief of staff of the Federal Chancellery.

    In 2005, Steinmeier went to the office of the Foreign Ministry of Germany becoming zv.kancelar in 2007. In September 2008, he was nominated as the candidate of "SDP" happen to serve as chancellor of the country. In the parliamentary elections of that year, "SDP" IMF took 23% of the vote and Steinmeier became head of the party in the Bundestag. After the parliamentary elections in September 2013, "SDP" created a coalition with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union.

    In December 2013, Steinmeier became Germany's foreign minister for a second time. But on November 16 last year, Steinmeier was officially nominated as a candidate from the coalition for the post of President of Germany.

    Former diplomat is already married and has a daughter. Even his wife, Elke Budenbender is an administrative judge.
