The attack at the Louvre, a 29-year-old gunman Egyptian

French authorities have announced in late Friday night that believe they have identified the assailant who tried to carry out an attack in the Louvre Museum in Paris, he is a 29-year-old Egyptian, who according to the prosecutor François Molins he had traveled to the French capital from Dubai on a tourist visa last month.

Police are trying to determine whether the gunman acted alone or with clear instructions from others, Molins said. Striker equipped with a machete was seriously injured after the shooting of a French soldier who tried to stop him committing a criminal act. One of the soldiers suffered minor injuries when the attacker tried to enter the museum.

At the time of the incident, hundreds of visitors were inside the Louvre, where they hosted countless works of art, including the Mona Lisa. President François Hollande praised the soldier's actions, saying that "his operation thwarted an attack for which there is little doubt that it would be a terrorist". He told reporters in Malta, where for an EU summit, he expected that the suspect be questioned "as soon as possible".

Molins said the Egyptian prosecutor had no identification documents, but the data of a mobile phone showed that he had arrived in Paris on January 26 after he demanded a one-month tourist visa in Dubai. However, he said authorities have not yet determined the identity of the suspect formally.
